The Concept of the Son of GOD Within the Religious Scriptures
(Inspirational Writings)
A. In the Old Testament
In the Old Testament the little Son of God was applied to persons having any special relationship with God. Angels, just and pious men, the descendants of Seth, were called Sons of God.

The leaders of people, kings, princes, judges, as holding authority from God were called Sons of God. The theoretic king as lieutenant of God, and especially when he was providently selected to be a type of Messiah was honored with the little "Son of God". B the Messiah, the chosen once, The Elect of God was par excellence called the Son of God (Ps 11, 7).

In the book of Psalm, which is authorized by King David, there are following verses:

What fools t e nations are to rage against God. How strong men should try to outwit God. For a summit conference of the nations has been called to plot against the Lord and against his anointed. Come, let us break his chain, they say, and free ourselves from all this slavery to ~d. But God in heaven merely laughs, he is amused by all their puny plans. And then in fierce fury he rebukes them and fills them with fear.

For the Lord declares "This is the King of my; choice and I have enthroned him in Jerusalem my holy mountain". His chosen one replies, "I will reveal the everlasting purposes of God, for the Lord has said to me "you are my son. This is your coronation day. Today I am giving you your glory. Only ask and I will give you all the nations of the world. Rule them with iron rod. Smash them like clay pots.
O Kings and the rulers of the earth listen while there is time. Serve the Lord with reverent fear, rejoice with trembling. Pay homage in good faith before his anger is roused and you perish. I am warning you his wrath will soon begin. But oh, the joys of those who put their trust in him. (Psalms 2: 1-1 10)

B. In the New Testament
The title "the Son of God" is frequently applied to Jesus Christ in the Gospels and Epistles. In the latter it is everywhere employed as a short formula for expressing His Divinity; and this usage throws light on the meaning to be attached to it in many passages of the Gospels. The angel announced: "He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the most High... the Holy which shall be born at thee shall be called the Son of God (Luke, 1,32,30). Nathaniel, at his first meeting, called Him the Son of God (: John, I, 49). The devils called Him by the same name, the Jews ironically, and the Apostles after He quelled the storm in all these cases its meaning was equivalent to the Messiah, at least. But much more is implied in the confession of St. Peter, the testimony of the Father, and the words of Jesus Christ.

The following verses are from the New Testament. Jesus said: I am the light of the world, he who follows me shall not walk in darkness but shall have the light of life (John 8:12). Even if I bear witness of myself my witness is true; for I know where I came from and where I am going (John 8:16) you people judge according to flesh; I am not judging anyone but even if I do judge my judgment is true; for I am not alone in it but I and he who sent me. I am He who bear witness of myself and the father who sent me bear witness of me. And you know neither me nor my father. If you knew me you would know my father also. I go away and you shall seek me.

Where I am going you can not come because you are from below and I am from above. You are of this world, I am not of this world. I said therefore, you shall die in your sin, unless you believe that I am He, you shall die in your sin. When you lift up the son of man, then you will know that I am He and I do nothing on my own initiative but I speak these things as the father taught me. And he who sent me is with me. He has not let me alone for I always do the things that are pleasing to him (John 8:16-31. Truly truly everyone who commits sin is slave of sin and the slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does. If therefore the son shall make you free you shall be free indeed and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free (John 8:31-36)

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life and that the world through him might be saved and the coming will be from the East and flashes even to the West.... So must the son of man be lifted up. That who ever believes may have eternal life (John 3:14,16). And he who practices the truth comes to the light that his deed may be manifested as having been wrought in God (John 3:21). And it is God who is the judge. And if you forgive men for their transgression God will also forgive your sin. And if you do not forgive men then your heavenly father (God) may not forgive your sins (Matthew 6:14,15).

If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater, for the witness of God is this, that he has borne witness concerning his son. The one who believes in the son of God has the witness in himself; the one who does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not behaved in the witness that God has born concerning his son. And the witness is this that God has given us eternal life and this life is in his son. He who has the son has the life. He who does not have the Son of God does not have the life (John 9:12). And then they will see the son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. But if these things begin to take place, straighten and lift up your head because your redemption is near. Even so you too when you see these things happening recognize that the kingdom of God is near. Truly I say to you this generation will not pass away until all things take place (Luke 21:27-32).

And Jesus said truly truly I say to you, the son can do nothing of himself unless it is something he sees the father doing; for whatever the father does, these things the son also does in like matter. For the father loves the son and shows him all things that he himself is doing, and greater works than these will he show him that you may marvel. For just as the father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the son also gives life to whom he wishes. He who does not honor the son does not honor the father who sent him (John 5:2S-30) Also Jesus said God is spirit and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and truth (John 4:24) and He said "I who speak to you am He (John 4:26). But you shall receive powers when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witness both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and even to the remotest parts of the earth (Act 1:8).

Hallelujah; salvation and glory and power belong to God (Revelation 19:1) and he is the almighty reigns (Revelation 19:6) and he is able to do whatever he decides to do.

C. In Quran
Quran that was delivered by the Prophet Mohammed the messenger of God to the people approximately 600 years after the birth of Jesus contains the following verses in regard to the Son of God:

God had not given birth to a son nor was he begotten and nobody is like him (112:3,4), Jesus was begotten by Mariam the blessed mother and he was God's prophet who was strengthened with Holy Spirit (II: 78) and God took him up to himself and that on the day of Resurrection Jesus shall be a witness against the unbelievers (IV: 157-159). And Mariam, the daughter of Imran, who guarded her chastity, so God breathed into her of his own inspiration and she accepted the truth of the words of God and his books and she was of the obedient ones.

God had not taken a son to himself and did not have a partner in the kingdom (: 17: 111). (But) - if he desires to take a son to himself he will surely choose those he pleases from which he has created (39:4) and it beseems not Allah that he should take to himself a son, glory be to him, when he has decreed a matter he only says to it "Be" and it is. (19:35) Say: If the Beneficent God has a son, I am the foremost of those who serve. (43:81)
