The Ouran
(Inspirational Writings)
The Moslem believe that the Quran is the actual word of God and contains the fundamental beliefs of Islam. According to tradition and beliefs, the Quran was dictated to Mohammed by God. Because of its divine origin, the Quran has not been altered in any way since it was first compiled. Copies of the Quran are always treated with the greatest respect. The authoritative text of the Quran is the original Arabic. It consists of 114 chapters (called Surah), which have names as well as numbers.

In Quran God is described as One who is powerful, created all things, is merciful and compassionate, God has 99 names (BBC World service ...)

In Quran it is restated that God did not beget nor was he begotten and nobody is like him (112:3,4). And refer to Jesus as God's Prophet who was strengthened with holy spirit (II: 87) and that he was not killed neither was he crucified but it appeared to them so and God took him up to himself and that on the Day of Resurrection Jesus shall be a witness against them (Quran IV: 157-159)

Nevertheless, God reiterated in Quran that he had not taken a Son to himself and does not have a partner in the kingdom (XVII: 111). But, if he desires to take a son to himself. He will surely choose those he pleases from which he has created (XXXXIX: 4) and it beseems not Allah that he should take to himself a son, glory be to him, when he has decreed a matter he only say to it "Be" and it is (Quran XIX:35).

We gave Jesus the son of Miriam, clear arguments and strengthened him with the Holy Spirit (II: 87). Jesus was not killed but God took him up to himself God can do this because he is mighty and wise (Quran IV: 158).
