Why does it come in different forms? Are there any common features? Why does religion matter so much in people's lives? Why are there several religions rather than one? Why religions prescribe rituals? Why are rituals the way they are? Why does religion trigger strong emotions? Why do people kill for religion? Why does it lead to so much intolerance and so much atrocities? And why it sometimes conducive to terrorism and self-sacrifice? And finally why do some people believe in religion. And what supernatural concepts are like.
I believe if we can have a plausible answer to the last question and can explain that these supernatural forces (and God) exist and are in control of the fate of human being, the answers to many other questions would be included. However, I would post pond the answer of these questions to the chapter of ... The New Revelation of God and Fulfillment of his prophecies.
Perception and understanding of surrounding requires interference and guesses about different aspects of objects around us. Certainly direct personal experience can convey more reliable knowledge and belief and faith in comparison to catalogues' information. Obviously the mind is composed of specialized systems that produce inferences about different aspects.
Objects in different ontological categories activate different sets of these specialized systems.
Each inference system is itself composed of even more specialized structure
(1:106).
Complexity of the system of understanding makes perception, understanding and experiencing of the invisible matters especially God's and spirits difficult. It is obvious that God is more important than Santa Claus but it is easier to understand Santa Claus because it has directly stimulated our conscience senses including touch and vision but it is not easy to perceive God because understanding it, requires deep meditation, using thoughts and touching God, his love and intelligence by our own thought, intuition and our own intelligence. This is a contact, which may occur in the space as well as within our own body and our own intuition. (Refer to the chapter: The New Revelation of God).
